ALHAURIN EL GRANDE, Málaga

Lauro Nova Residential Area

Sorroundings/Situation

Situation

Alhaurín el Grande is in the Hoya of Malaga, 15 Km. From the coast, 35 km. From the centre of Marbella and 30 Km from the capital. Most of the inhabitants work in local businesses or in farming. Farming has been one of the main economic forces in the area for over a thousand years, traditionally in olive oil, wheat and figs. This labouring in the fields has contributed to the green landscape that surrounds the town, the name of the town and the villages around it come from these times and traditional activities, for instance Villafranco del Guadalhorce, Cigarral or Fuente del Perro. This area is particularly attractive as a place to retire to, to rest and relax. In this sense, the tourist industry has taken off. A type of tourism that is more serene, looking for isolation, but yet is perfectly connected with both Malaga and the Costa del Sol. It is a place for those who can really appreciate the offer of a good game of golf or just taking enjoyable strolls around this peaceful area.
